Wonderful ride today and then a nice short drive to home in the miata. Honestly this bike rack is easier to use than on the roof of the Subaru.
Also some shots of the ‘yata
And where I’m spending the rest of my day chillin
Nice ocean breeze rolling in now so I’m like this quite a bit! I’ll have to make a map of my bike ride to figure out how far I went this morning. I did the majority of the uphill on foot since I parked at the ocean and walked up. So I cheated a bit but man was that big downhill and cruise along the mostly flat PCH great.

Have you thought about attaching a fork mount to the roll bar? You could rest the rear wheel on the trunk lid. Maybe use a pool noodle around the tire to protect the paint.
I’ve seen everything from pipe straps to bolts used to attach the mount. I’m sure you could find something!

I'd like to use a fork mount and then still mount it this way into the passenger seat. Just fits better that way without limiting trunk access. Could care less about the paint since the trunk is one of the burnt off from the sun parts anyways. But yeah I've definitely thought about buying a fork mount and somehow affixing it. But more likely I'd like the cross bar to mount than from the fork. I thought about some sort of clamp that just has two round bar things to twist on. But honestly the bike sits pretty securely with completely nothing holding it. With the seat belt on it doesn't move at all. And then I bungee it from the front end of the bike just for extra holding so that I don't feel bad about Canyon carving with it.
